Job purpose:
Providing operational support to the vessel engine department, carrying out watchkeeping or day work duties at the discretion of the Chief Engineer.
Location: Baku; Azerbaijan Offshore (Vessel)
Direct Reporting Line: Chief Engineer
Vessel type: PSV, AHTS
Minimum experience: 6-month sea time in rank
Key Accountabilities:
- The safe and efficient operation of the machinery and equipment for which they have been allocated responsibility;
- Inform the Chief Engineer of all machinery defects and action taken;
- The safe keeping of an engine room watch;
- Being fully familiar with the machinery and systems, so that, in an emergency situation, essential services can be safely and speedily restored;
- Assisting in the preparation of machinery for survey;
- Assisting the Chief engineer with bunkering and transfer of bunkers as required;
- Ensuring that any information entered in the ER log, maintenance records, water condition logs and other records, shall be accurate;
- Notifying the Chief Engineer of spare gear and consumable requirements as applicable;
- Keeping the Chief Engineer fully informed as to the progress of any work which he has undertaken, and of any defects or problems in their area of responsibility;
- Ensuring Control of work (Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments and Permit-to-Works) carried out prior to start of all related tasks;
- Assisting the Master or his delegate in emergency situations;
- To support any other duties, as per management request.
- Carrying out security duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
Technical & PMS:
- Ensure that Vessels Planned Maintenance System is being operated and reported in the manner prescribed in the company’s QA system and is in compliance with the ISM Code.
- Ensure vessel is well maintained and in a continued excellent technical condition as per the Company’s requirements.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order and that the planned maintenance system is relevant and up to date onboard, to avoid unplanned downtime.
- Prepare vessel repair specifications in association with the Team members
