ERP Business Analyst

Position summary
- This position is responsible for eliciting and analysing business requirements, identifying digitalization and automation opportunities across the enterprise, and supporting the initiation and planning of ERP and Digitalization projects from idea to project start. The ERP Business Analyst acts as a primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT, translating business needs into clear specifications and ensuring that proposed solutions are feasible, valuable, and aligned with Company policies and procurement procedures.
Principal responsibilities
- Engage business stakeholders (process owners, key users, SMEs) to capture pain points, map As-Is processes, and propose To-Be scenarios with a focus on value, risk, and feasibility.
- Identify opportunities for digitalization and automation (e.g., process simplification, data quality improvements, workflow enablement, RPA/low-code candidates) and prioritize a pipeline of initiatives.
- Prepare and refine business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and draft functional specifications to support the creation of Statements of Work (SOW) and technical specifications.
- Support market research and vendor scan (products, standard capabilities, integration fit), prepare comparison matrices, and summarize findings for decision-making.
- Contribute to risk identification and assessment; document assumptions, constraints, and mitigation strategies for the project charter and business case.
- Support high-level project planning: scope definition, milestones, resource and effort estimates, and timeline assumptions in alignment with ERP & Digitalization roadmap.
- Prepare initiation package in line with Company procurement procedures (business justification, scope statement, budget estimate, risk register, stakeholder list, draft evaluation criteria).
- Identify Key Users and define their roles (process owner, tester, trainer, change champion) and the RACI matrix for the initiation phase.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, interviews, and walkthroughs; consolidate results and obtain formal sign-offs (minutes, decision logs).
- Collaborate with architects and integration teams to assess data, interfaces, security, and compliance implications (high-level).
- Support preparation of RFP/RFQ documents and assist procurement during Q&A, demo scenarios, and evaluation scoring.
- Maintain a transparent backlog of requirements, assumptions, and open issues; track closure prior to project kick-off.
- Ensure all artifacts are stored and versioned according to internal QMS and audit requirements; prepare executive-ready slides and status summaries.
- Other duties as assigned by Line Manager.
Accountability
- High-quality, audit-ready documentation for project initiation (business case, scope, requirements, risk register, stakeholder register).
- Effective communication and collaboration across business and IT; timely escalation of risks and issues.
- Alignment of proposed To-Be processes with Company policies, data and security standards, and procurement procedures.
- Contribution to realistic plans, resource estimates, and clear acceptance criteria prior to kick-off.
Typical skill requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst/Project Manager on ERP or Digitalization projects. (S/4HANA, Dynamics, Oracle, or similar).
Language skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Azeri & English
- Good knowledge of Russian is an advantage
Technical skills:
- ERP & Process Knowledge: understanding of core ERP business processes at a functional level. Ability to capture As Is processes and model To Be scenarios using standard notations (e.g., BPMN). Basic understanding of master data structures (materials, vendors, customers, chart of accounts, BOMs, routings, equipment).
- System & Integration Fundamentals: high level awareness of ERP architecture (modules, transactions, configuration vs. customization). Basic understanding of interface concepts (file exchange, API, IDoc-like integration logic in general terms). Awareness of security roles, user access principles, and audit requirements.
- Business process mapping and modelling (e.g., BPMN); requirements engineering; ability to write clear user stories/use cases.
- Data analysis basics (Excel/Power BI), familiarity with SQL is a plus.
Equipment skills:
- Good knowledge in MS Office Applications, including Project, MS Power Point, MS Visio and Excel
- Knowledge of IT systems and software applications (LIMS, PBI, RPA, S&OP, MES, Access Control systems)
- Knowledge of ERP solutions (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
