Welding engineer

Reporting to: Head of QA/QC department
Responsibilities:
- Leading welding projects.
- General Knowledge of the requirements of ASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div. 1 and Div.2; Sec II; Sec. V.
- Knowledge of the requirements of ASME Code Sec. IX for the qualification of procedures and / or joining personnel.
- Investigate welding related issues to improve product performance and increase productivity
- Design welded parts, assemblies and structures such as buildings, pressure vessels, and pipelines
- Develop repair procedures and assess flaws to determine the fitness-for-service of structures
- Develop standards, materials, weld joint design, and welding processes
- Develop welding process procedure qualification, supplier qualification, and product testing
- Troubleshoot welding problems and provide corrective solutions
- Knowledge of welding activities for SMAW (manual), GTAW (manual), GMAW & FCAW (semiautomatic), SAW (automatic or semi-automatic) of welding of Carbon steel, Stainless Steel and Alloyed Steel materials.
- Analysis of engineering designs for welding requirements.
- Review of welding procedures, processes and documentation.
- Management of welding procedure qualifications and creation of welding procedures to assist production and welding teams.
- Calculation of welding consumables
- Conduct fault and cause analyses on welding issues.
- Develops welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment to metal fabrication problems using knowledge of manufacturing specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering disciplines.
- Defines welding procedures to guide fabrication and welding personnel regarding specification limitations, material processes, pre- and post-heat requirements, including the use of complex alloys, unusual manufacturing methods, the welding of critical joints, and complex post-heat requirements.
- Evaluates new developments in welding for possible application to existing welding problems or manufacturing processes,
- Directs and coordinates technical personnel in conducting inspections to ensure employee compliance with established welding procedures, limits, and standards; checking the compliance of welding seams with the requirements of the standard; or testing welding personnel for certification.
- Create welding procedures to monitor welding procedure qualification and assist production and welding personnel,
- Planning, conducting, monitoring and reporting welding engineering studies,
- Provide welding engineering support to Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to manufacture equipment in accordance with relevant codes and customer requirements,
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of inspection manuals and procedures.
Competency requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma for Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (at least Bachelor)
- International Welding Engineer Diploma
Taining:
- General information about the ISO 9001; 14001; 45001
Skills:
- Good knowledge written and verbal in English
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications
- Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, meters, callipers and computers

Experience:
- 6+ years professional welding experience.
- More than 5 year Working knowledge of ASME codes and standards
