Vacancy: Laboratory Specialist (HSE)
Job Accountabilities:
The Job Holder is accountable for the overall building HSE compliance reporting directly to Non-Routine Supervisor.
The HSE Specialist has the following accountabilities:
- Knowledgeable on international and national HSE codes and regulations -Chemical and gases segregations, storage, waste management, hazardous area classification.
- Leads risk assessments, job hazard analysis generation and implementation in the lab in coordination with Company HSE team.
- Develop and coordinate draft procedures, work instructions, programs, protocols or any specific activities regarding Lab HSE activities – HSE Manual, incident management, emergency, waste management procedures and so on.
- Ensure the readiness of the laboratory for internal/external safety audits.
- Ensure the availability and verification of lab fire and gas equipment – eye wash, fire extinguishers, detectors, safety kits, fume cupboards.
- Acts as the responsible person for the building hot and cold work maintenance activities
- Conducts routine safety trainings and inductions for the personnel and visitors.
- Manages building security and access control as per standards.
- Keeps the inventory for all laboratory HSE related items and ensure the availability of PPE all times.
- Coordinate all environmental inspections and coordinate with facility managers to design/implement any corrections/changes required.
- Lead facility drills as per procedures.
- Track, analyze and report safety performance indicators / trends and provide recommendations and programs based on the data
- Manages internal safety trainings and toolbox on a routine basis.
- Remains committed to annual company objectives and individual goals and targets.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
- University degree in Bachelor of Science (Environmental preferably)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Chemical Laboratory environment as HSE responsible.
- Knowledge in international and national regulations
- Knowledge in oil and gas laboratories, good lab practices, hydrocarbon environment, pressurized/flammable gas cylinders risks and H2S presence.
- Professional integrity with high HSE commitment.
- Knowledge in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 17025
- Good organization and team working/presentation skills.
