Finance Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Direct Reports: Accounting, Reporting & Budgeting Team (4–10 people depending on structure)
Position Summary
- The Finance Manager is responsible for leading and managing the full spectrum of financial operations within the oil & gas business, including budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, accounting and compliance. The role ensures accurate financial information, supports operational and project teams with financial insights, manages internal controls, and drives continuous improvements in financial performance. The role collaborates closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to support decision-making and long-term business planning.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budget preparation, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial planning for operational and project activities.
- Monitor performance against budgets, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency.
- Support management with financial modelling, scenario analysis, and investment/business case evaluations.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and company policies.
- Oversee consolidation of results for multiple entities, subsidiaries, or project companies.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and internal/external audit requirements.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure adherence to the company’s finance procedures and ethical standards.
Cost Control & Project Finance
- Partner with Project Controls, Operations, and PSCM teams to support cost management across all projects.
- Review project budgets, cost reports, procurement commitments, and cash flow projections.
- Evaluate capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX), ensuring alignment with financial targets.
- Support contract reviews, commercial risk assessments, and financial elements of tender processes.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow planning, bank relationships, and treasury operations.
- Oversee payment cycles, AR/AP processes, and working capital optimization.
- Ensure appropriate liquidity to support ongoing operations and project execution.
Policies, Systems & Process Improvements
- Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and digitalization initiatives (ERP, BI dashboards, automation).
- Update and enhance finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead implementation of new financial modules, IFRS updates, or process optimization projects.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and develop a finance team of accountants, analysts, and reporting specialists.
- Allocate responsibilities, set targets, and conduct periodic performance evaluations.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement in the finance function.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (ACCA/CPA/CIMA) is preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a managerial role within oil & gas, EPC, or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, tax legislation, and statutory requirements.
- Experience with project-based accounting and cost control in oil & gas, engineering, drilling, or construction projects.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, IFS) and advanced Excel/BI tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
