Job dimensions / Context:
JOCAP Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum is a new Company created in March 2018, which is the Operator of Absheron from August 2018.
Absheron development reference agreements are PSA (production Sharing Agreement), JOA (Joint Operating Agreement) and addendums.
Absheron Early Production Scheme (EPS) is an early development phase of the Absheron project which started in July 2023. In addition to the EPS. JOCAP is planning to develop further the Absheron field which will require the drilling of additional wells, the installation of export pipelines to shore (Sangachal area), and the construction of a processing facility in Sangachal area.
EPS Project technical data:
- 152Mscf/d of gas, 12kbbl/d of condensate; production from 1 subsea well, 34km multiphase flowline, dedicated new platform installed at Oil Rocks field (operated by SOCAR); WHSIP = 555bar, WHFP = 380bar.
- Servers and IT/Telecom equipment in Baku main office ,Oil Rocks Control room, Platform and other Company IT facilities
- CWE Collaborative Working Environment (Smart Room) in Baku main Office with real time links with Oil Rocks CCR
Multicultural context with documents in different languages, mainly Azerbaijani or English.
Activities:
The Subsea Operations Engineer overall responsibility is to control the effectiveness of engineering design and technical referential in order to allow for the safe and reliable operations of the EPS facilities using the best work practices, with the objective of remaining within the agreed Budget and Schedule. In addition, Subsea Operations Engineer will be involved into the Full Field Development of the Absheron project.
Main Responsibilities are:
- Leading preparation and the execution of the Subsea Inspections/Interventions
- Assisting the Smart Room Manager in the follow‐up of engineering and technical developments of the operating facility
- Acting as Technical Authority for all Subsea Production system issues.
- Supports the Site team for the day to day follow‐up of the subsea equipment’s
- Supports the Maintenance team for the maintenance subsea equipment located on the EPSplatform.
- Support the Smart Room Manager for the day‐to‐day follow‐up of the well operations.
- Acting as CPY representative during offshore operations on site
The jobholder is accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behavior with regard to HSSE rules & requirements, with regards to the Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy and for implementing and controlling these rules and requirements within his area of responsibility.

Detailed activities:
- To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE, to implement HSSE rules and requirements within his area of responsibility - C
- Using JOCAP rules and procedures and best work practices, establish and maintain a set of specific procedures complying with main agreements signed (PSA / JOA), to cover the co-ordination and control of activities - C
- Develop the tools which will be required for day-to-day management of the Subsea Production System operations after start-up - C
- Selection of all tools and equipment required for start-up and ensure the timely procurement of those. - C
- Participate in project reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, SPOT, ODR, PTR...). - C
- Review engineering work in detail for complex issues which may jeopardize the operability or OPEX of the Absheron project. - C
- Participate in the Efficiency Improvement Initiative process - C
- Perform required studies related to Subsea Production System operations activities - C
- Act as an active member of the collaborative team in order to support the Site Activities - C
- To participate in the preparation and participate when requested (as required) to all required Workshops / Committee meetings with Service Provider(s), Authorities, Partners, and Stakeholder... - B
HSE Responsibilities:
- Comply with the Activities described within the HSE Management System
- Take reasonable care of own Health and Safety and that of Others who may be affected by their acts atwork
- Each employee, at his level of responsibility, must observe all Company Rules, Procedures and instructions in the performance of his own task
- Assure of the safety of his work site
- Exercise such caution as is necessary to avoid danger to persons and installations or to avoidpollution
- Report any anomaly, abnormal conditions and near miss to supervisor
- Participate actively in or lead when required HSE meetings, safety talks, tool boxes, training sessions and drills
- Leader in the execution of the HSE plans
Authority to suspend activities when there is a potential or actual threat to human life, the installation or the environment, and notify forthwith the responsible supervisor
Qulifications / Experience:
- Level / Diploma: Engineering
- Professional Experience: minimum 5 years of experience in Subsea Operations andInterventions.
- Essential knowledge:
- Subsea Production system Operations and Maintenance
- Operational and ILI(inline inspection) pigging knowledge
- Experience in Subsea intervention
- Desirable knowledge:
- Offshore project management skills
- Vessel Mobilization/demobilization experience
- Process safety in design and risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP and SIL analysis
O&G process and construction practices, Project Organization and Coordination, Deep knowledge of Subsea Production systems, Documentation review/control, Management of interfaces, Management of contractors/subcontractors.
