About the Role
The German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) is seeking an accountant. The candidate should have a strong background in accounting & reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on professional to join a small but experienced organization and work in an industry-focused environment.
As Accountant, you report directly to the Executive Director. You will be responsible for financial reporting and budgeting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable. You provide pro-active, timely, accurate professional support to internal and external clients working very closely with the various departments. More specifically the key responsibilities will include:
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Financial Reporting
- Yearly, quarterly and monthly planning, tracking and forecasting of financial indicators
- Managing and overseeing all financial procedures, including budget accounting, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash-flow and the implementation of financial guidelines
- Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial statements and reports to management
- Preparation of financial statements for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany (BMWK)
- Establishing and enforcing proper financial and accounting methods, internal processes and digital tools related to financial controlling with respect to both Azerbaijani and German legal requirements
- Manage contract administration, ensuring all paperwork is accurately drafted, reviewed, and implemented in compliance with finance-related laws, procedures and regulations such as tax filling and financial reporting standards.
Bookkeeping and Taxation
- Accounts receivable including invoicing and collections, travel expenses and general ledger accounting
- Accounts payable and reconciliations
Payroll
- Processing payroll and all related reporting
- Handling of payroll tax and retirement matters
General
- Completion of tasks in Human Resources administration i.e. preparation, conclusion, and management of employment contracts with employees, as well as maintenance of the online systems of the Ministry of Labor.
- Coordination of insurance matters.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Financial Business Management or Accounting
- Significant work experience in finance and/or accounting (5 years minimum)
- Possesses extremely strong analytical, financial modeling, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Detail-oriented, and an excellent written and oral communication skills in English, German (preferred) is an advantage.
- Deliver results and successfully close procedures according to brief
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Accounting software (C1)
- Experience supporting in HR/ IT for a business (highly desirable)
